How To Disable Autorun/Autoplay In Windows?

Yes,a pen drive is the most common source of virus. Normally,the "autorun/autoplay" feature of Windows Operating System remains enable. As a result,whenever you insert a pen drive through the USB port of your PC,the virus inside the pen drive easily spreads into your PC.

So,it's far better to disable the "autorun/autoplay" process in your Windows.

There are two ways to disable the "autorun/autoplay" process in Windows. In one process,you can do it without using a third party software,and in the second process,you need to use a small freeware software.

i) In Windows XP :


1) Go to Start > Run.

2) Type gpedit.msc on the registry editor box.

3) Now on the left side box of the Group Policy,go to User Configuratoin > Administrative Templates > System.

4) Now on the right side box,find out the setting Turn off Autoplay.

5) Double click on it. When the Turn off Autoplay Properties come,make the following changes :

Turn off Autoplay : Enabled

Turn off Autoplay on : All drives

6) Click on Apply > OK & come out to desktop.

ii) In Windows Vista/7 :

1) Go to Windows > Control Panel.

2) On the search box,type autoplay.

3) Click on Autoplay. You'll see a page like this :

4) Just check out the tick from the option Use Autoplay for all media and devices & click on Save.

5) Come out to desktop.

1) Download Autorun Eater from here. After downloading it,just install on your PC.

2) After installing it,take a look on your taskbar. You will see a icon of Autorun Eater with these informations :

After you install Autorun Eater,it will disable all types of autorun/autoplay of any kind of USB device. Plus,if there is any virus in pen drive,it will also remove them.
